What is A Parole Packet?
A collection of documents that an inmate of their family submits to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to support the inmate's release on parole. A well-prepared parole packet can significantly improve an inmate's chances of being granted parole.
The Importance of a Parole Packet
"The act of preparing a parole packet shows the Board that the inmate is concerned about family finances, is willing to participate in their own life, and has initiative."
"A parole packet can show that the inmate is better prepared than most of their peers for re-entry into the community."
"A parole packet can show the Board how the inmate has accepted responsibility and worked to become someone who can live productively in the community"
"A parole packet can include letters of support from others."
It is recommended to begin the process about a year before the inmate's parole eligibility date.
